Elizabeth Read (1749 -1829) & William Wood (1751 – 1815)
This is the line of descent from Cozens Read’s daughter Elizabeth. I find I have a soft spot for her husband William, since I discovered that he was riding home on his horse from Ashendon to Chearsley and they found him dead in a ditch!! Poor chap, all alone. Did he fall from his horse? Have a heart attack? He was something like a special constable so was he set about by robbers? It’s all very intriguing!!

Notes for RACHEL WOOD:
In Rachel’s Mother Elizabeth’s Will dated 1827, Rachel has her name crossed out and replaced with the name of Elizabeth!
Also, Rachel is the wife of John Humphrey but at the time of their marriage her name is shown as Eliz Wood.
