My Grandparents John William (1886 – 1971) and Jane Read (nee Stapleton) (1888 – 1956).
Because they lived in a flat, my brothers and I always referred to them as “Granny and Grandpa up the stairs”!! Although my grandmother died when I was very young I remember her with much love and can still picture her in my mind very vividly.
We were lucky to have my dear grandfather for much longer and my memories of him are still very strong.
