So That's Where I Get It From

Annie Saunders (nee Dartnell)

This is my Auntie Annie (1886 – 1968), which is how I always knew her as. In fact she was my Great Auntie, sister to my Grandmother Lucy.

I loved to go visit Auntie Annie and her husband George. To me they were always fun, happy, a really great couple of people. I adored them always. I was aware as I grew up that Auntie Annie had a problem with walking (crippled really by arthritis) and she had a finger that she could not bend, and of course, it’s only as I got older and wiser I learned that she must have been in terrible pain for many years, although I never realised this when I was younger. But it never showed. So now I know just how much she must have suffered over those years, I am full of admiration for her because she just did not let it get her down. A lovely lady, a lovely couple.
